Lapland is a fantastic skiing and snowboarding destination, with a choice of world class resorts inside the Arctic Circle. Whether you are a first time skier or an experienced downhill enthusiast Lapland has a great selection of resorts offering something for every ability.
The high latitude location ensures incredible skiing conditions from the start of the season in early November, right through to the end of April.
Floodlit ski slopes and cross-country ski trails mean that you can enjoy skiing and cross-country skiing even when the sun has gone down. This is ideal during December and January when you can ski in the enchanting polar twilight. By February Lapland already has 8 hours of daylight, and more than 12 hours by April, so if you're planning to ski in Lapland then, you might want to be sampling other activities by the time the sun goes down.
Lapland is a hidden gem for spring skiing and a must visit destination for any keen skier or snowboarder. By the middle of March the days are already almost 12 hours long and by the end of the season you can expect around 24 hours of daylight in which to enjoy the slopes. The snow conditions are still unbeatable compared to more southerly resorts, with an average of over a meter of snowpack by the end of the season. The slopes will still be quiet, lift queues almost unheard of, and on top of that you still have the long evenings to fit in any other activities you might be interested in.
